Hydraulic power is a mechanical force that is created by the steering pump. The steering pump is driven by your vehicles engine via a gear or pulley drive. The steering pump then transfers the hydraulic fluid to a device such as a steering gear or a steering cylinder. Together these components will convert the hydraulic force back to a mechanical force.
